Waverley to Bronte to Coogee to Bronte to Bondi to Waverley. Absolutely exhausted, but after many years of wanting to do it, I finally did the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk; well to be pedantic Coogee to Bondi, plus a wee bit more. It’s a 6 km walk from Bondi to Coogee, the path hugging stunning cliffs and beaches, but according to Runkeeper I managed an impressive 15km.
It was a perfect day for it, gorgeous blue skies and huge crashing waves.
Waverley Cemetery
I joined the walk just before the Waverley Cemetery and headed towards Coogee. These tombstones are probably housed on the most expensive real estate in Sydney.
Clovelly Bay
Clovelly is one of the many gorgeous bays I passed. I wasn’t brave enough today, but in a few weeks time this would be a great place to take a dip or snorkel in search of large blue gropers.
Gordon’s Bay
Coogee
By the time I reached Coogee, I had a very growly belly, so I satisfied the hunger pangs with a “All Day Breakfast” at The Coogee Bite Cafe. Yum yum!!!
Turning Around and Heading towards Bondi
Bronte Beach
Failed desperately to get a decent piccie of the surfers at Bronte. After a hundred attempts (ok maybe a slight exaggeration) my camera decided to die on me :o(
Bondi Beach
The last stretch to Bondi is full of body perfect joggers and locals walking their dogs. I managed to squeeze one last photo out of my dying camera.
I couldn’t do this walk without any photos of the iconic beach of Bondi.
Info: The Bondi to Coogee Walk is an easy walk. One way is 6km, taking approximately 2 hours (including time to take piccies). Check out the 131500 website for the latest transport details on getting to Bondi. There are plenty of cafes/kiosks on route if your stomach gets as growly as mine.
Also every year around October/November there is an outdoor art exhibition, Sculpture By The Sea, which adds a new dimension to the walk between Bondi and Tamarama Bay.
